Eastern red cedar (Juniperus Virginiana) is the primary feature of these guitars. It is a light, soft wood, typically containing plenty of knots, light colored sapwood streaks, dry rot, bark inclusions, and other treasures, any or all of which can be proudly displayed.
The early examples here are Tele-style guitars, but a new double cutaway, two humbucker, set-neck model is now available, designed in collaboration with Buck Curran of Arborea, whose song "Red bird" is the inspiration for this model. The song laments the destruction of the natural world by human development, and 25% of my profit from any Redbird will be donated to causes that help reverse or avert this trend. This also falls in step with my vision for Dismal Ax, and hopefully I can increase the percentage of donation in the future.
